Sharon University is a new and under development ministry at Sharon Baptist Church. Our goal is to establish a strategic and ongoing Discipleship program to equip believer’s in their faith. We hope to do this through Bible study, intentional prayer, and serving together on mission.
We know that this is a big goal but we serve a BIG God and we believe that, through hard work and increased efforts, we will continually better our discipleship ministry.
Currently, we offer a variety of different discipleship opportunities. Some of these classes are coed, while others are gender specific. Some meet weekly, and others only occasionally. Moving forward we are looking to add more and more options for Biblical enrichment.
Taught by Ms. Jerri Sharp
This adult coed course studies through Lifeway’s Discipleship Training material. This class meets on Sunday Nights at 5pm.
Student Ministry Discipleship
Taught by Ray McPhilips/Pastor Nick
The student class, for 6-12 grade students, meets on Sunday Nights from 5-6:30. This group studies a variety of topics as well as various books of the Bible. They also dedicate time to go serve the local community by visiting nursing homes, delivering goods to police and fire stations, and serving members of the community. *Please note that this study does not meet during the school summer break*
Although the AWANA program is more than just discipleship, there is no denying that the scripture memorization and Bible studies that occur during the AWANA meetings are a great tool to disciple kids. Our AWANA program meets during the school year at 5pm on Sunday nights.
Our women’s class meets on Wednesday Nights at 6:30pm. These ladies meet for a time of study and small group discussion, going through books by authors such as Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, Lisa Harper, and others. This is an incredibly opportunity to learn, pray, and share with other women.
Men’s Bible Study
Taught by Arthur Hyde
This group meets on Wednesday evenings every Spring for about 8-12 weeks to do an in-depth study on a book of the Bible. This year’s study was on the book of Ephesians.
Men’s Topical Studies
On Wednesday nights throughout the year we host topical studies for men. These studies include issues like marriage, fatherhood, faith in the work environment, and other issues. Curriculum and studies such as Men’s Fraternity and 33 the Series are used during several of these studies. Check our events page for upcoming studies!
