Sharon Baptist Church is led by a staff that is totally devoted to Jesus Christ.
Mark McCoig
Senior Pastor
Mark began serving as the Senior Pastor at Sharon Baptist Church in August of 2008. He and his wife Amy have three sons: Stephen and daughter-in-law, Andrea, Collin, and Zach and daughter-in-law, Mickayla. Mark grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Central High School. He is a graduate from Carson Newman College as well as The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mark loves to fish and spend time with his friends and family.
Nick Cancemi
Associate Pastor
Nick has been at Sharon Baptist Church since June of 2013 and serves as the church’s Associate Pastor. Nick was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and lived in Texas before moving to Knoxville. Nick married his wife Kayla in 2011. They have two daughters, Amelia and Oaklee. Nick completed his undergraduate work at Lancaster Bible College and his Master’s at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Ben Burnette
Music Minister
Ben began serving as the Minister of Music in June 2006. Ben grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Carson Newman College. He also is a Music Instructor in the Knox County Public Schools. Ben has a Master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Ben and his wife Ashley have a daughter Eleanor (Ellie).
Jacob Troutman
Student Minister
Jacob is from Concord, NC and moved to Knoxville last year. He served as the campus missionary at the UT-Knoxville’s Baptist Collegiate Ministry during the 2025-2026 school year. Jacob's wife, Ella, is in the Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine program at UT. Jacob has experience in discipleship and teaching in student and children’s ministry. He is passionate about cultivating a deep, active desire for the Gospel in young people’s lives!
Jenna Morris
Ministry Assistant
Jenna has been a member of Sharon Baptist Church since 2006 and now serves as the Ministry Assistant. She and her husband, Justin, share 5 children, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Jenna has a Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and worked as a teacher for Knox County Public Schools for 10 years. Jenna has participated in worship choir, Upward sports, and various children’s ministries here at Sharon. She is proud to serve the church and community in her role as Ministry Assistant.
Konnie Evans
Parent's Day Out Director
Konnie was saved at 9 years old and had the privilege of growing up in a Godly home and church. She has a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Tennessee and has over twenty years experience teaching/directing programs for young children.
Konnie and her husband Brian have been married for 31 years and they have two wonderful children (Brandon & Emily). Konnie joined the team at Sharon Baptist in February of 2022.
Dr. James Robertson
Pastor Emeritus
Dr. James Robertson served as Pastor of Sharon Baptist Church from 1971 to 2006. He and his wife Judy continue to be an important part in the work for the Lord at Sharon Baptist. He and Judy are parents of two daughters and are blessed with 3 granddaughters.
