At Sharon Baptist Church, we believe that children are a gift from God! It is our desire to partner with parents to help teach children to known and love God.
We offer various different kid’s ministry options throughout the year and we believe the safety of the children is of the utmost importance. Therefore, every volunteer in our kid’s ministry has undergone a background check and follows our policies to ensure kids are always safe!
Below you will learn about many of our kid’s ministry options! Each option looks at teaching kids through age-specific material so that they can learn what it means to know and follow Christ in their lives.
Our AWANA Ministry runs during the school year, with a break during school holidays and summer break.
AWANA Schedule: Sundays, from 5pm to 6:30pm
The founders of Awana derived the Awana name from the first letters of "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed" as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 of the Bible.
Today, more than 12,000 U.S. churches run Awana with programs in all 50 states. Awana can also be found in over 6,000 churches in 109 other countries.
For nearly 60 years, Awana had been a leader in Children’s Ministry, helping churches and parents worldwide raise children to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ.
The SBC AWANA Ministry is led by Commanders Dean and Sara Raby. Dean and Sara have been at Sharon for over four years and have a heart to see Children learn, know, and memorize God’s word.
Children in Action is an exciting and fun-filled coed missions education organization for boys and girls in grades 1–6. Children in Action is just one of the missions education organizations offered by Woman's Missionary Union (WMU). WMU provides a full line of resources for Children in Action and other age-level organizations. Through Children in Action, boys and girls gain a greater understanding of God's work in the world and how they can join Him in His work.
Children in Action learn about the world, pray for the world, and learn how they can be used to tell others about God's Son, Jesus.
Everyone must attend one basketball evaluation or cheerleading evaluation.
The Evaluation Night at Sharon Baptist Church is October 5th from 6-8pm.
If you cannot attend this evaluation night, please attend one of the evaluation nights at Wallace Memorial or Black Oak Heights.
Evaluations take roughly 20 minutes to complete.
Practices begin December 4th with a break around Christmas and New Year’s. The first game will be January 6th and the End of the Year Awards Celebration will be Sunday, February 25th at 6:00 p.m. at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church.
Once again Sharon Baptist Church partner with Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and host Upward Sports!
Upward Basketball and Upward Cheerleading offer a break from the norm. The primary focus of Upward is to develop the Winner in EVERY child, not just a few. By keeping this goal in mind, we are able to build a league that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in all who participate through:
During the summer time our AWANA and CIA programs take a break, but our classes and activities for Kids do not!
Each summer on Sunday and Wednesday nights we have special programming for our Children. In the past this has included Kid’s Cooking For Christ, Wacky Science Time, and Children Musicals/Dramas!
Stay tuned for this summers activities
Sharon Baptist Church also offers Nursery and Sunday School classes for children Birth-5th grade.
Classes are separated by ages and are taught by teachers and volunteers who love to see kids laugh, play, and learn about Christ.
Just like with our other kid ministries, each teacher and volunteer has undergone a background check and follow children safety protocols.
We offer both a preschool and School age Children’s Church during our Sunday morning worship service.
These special times for the kids are filled with music, games, and Bible lessons catered to their age group.
